Apparently Ritalin and amphetamine (given to ADHD kids) can stunt growth. Maybe stimulants in general cause stuntiness in young people. (Pepsi and Coke besides caffeine have phenylalanine which is an endogenous amphetamine.)

That's the way my mother and father viewed that matter. If you put a cigarette in one hand, and a cup of coffee in the other, your "hands are full" and you are therefor exempt from having to do anything. Can't do laundry while your hands are full. Can't do any work at all, damn shame. When my dad realized that none of his kids were drinking coffee or smoking cigarettes, he actually was astounded because he wondered, "but then, what do you DO all day?". As far as he was concerned, that was "doing something".
Like the dumbed down boobus americanus, as the late great Jean Shepherd used to call them, express befuddlement over what people who don't watch tv do all day. Kill yer tv! King Werewolf

You are grinding Jamaican Blue Mountain with a blade grinder? Jaysus, just Jaysus OMG. What a solecism. How common. The only acceptable way to treat Jamaican Blue Mountain is to pay a Rasta to chew the beans thoroughly and spit them into a small palladium beaker before diluting them with melted snow from the summit of Mt. Hood. In order to raise the temperature of the liquid to boiling point, this is then placed in an induction heater under partial vacuum. Do not use a filter. A Pyrex (tm) Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee De-bitsa, available from me for $312.00 (send bills only), should be used to remove the gritty bits. Serve in genuine Nagata sake cups.

I think the only way you can actually enjoy coffee properly is in an oxygen free environment.

Instant coffee is plain undrinkable unless it costs $15 a shot. I do hope you are using the right kind.

For me and hubby, we like freshly ground Cafe Verona. Fill the pot the night before (also grind, short time) then in the morn add the filtered water to the Bunn...best coffee maker ever, coffee is done before I can brush my teeth!

I wonder whatever happened to Babu? He was a coffee guy, too, and told me how to make cold water coffee.

Oh, I LOVE Iced Coffee. That's what I have on most days. When I'm in a coffee chain, I never ordered for hot coffee. It's always ice blended. It's hot here...so....

Not quite the same thing. Cold water coffee is coffee that is made with cold water instead of hot water; it's a concentrate to which hot water is added at time of drinking. I'm sure you *could* drink it iced, but that's not the point of it.

Iced coffee = cafe sua da, Vietnamese iced coffee. It's like their national drink. Delicious.

Well, not really. Millions of people drink it. I understand that's pretty much the only coffee they drink in South America. Not sure about the big coffee producing countries, Brazil and Columbia.
