So far there is no reputable source reporting any activity in Laredo Texas even close to this story.

There was no "reputable source" reporting about Rev Wright for 3 months either (except Fox) or the John Edwards story.

I haven't found any other source (besides blogs), and there are claims by different people that they've called the police and it's true and others say they've called and it isn't true.  Regardless, there is something nasty going on on the Mexican side of the border.

Marie.. If there's a blackout on anything, you'll only find it on blogs

Blogs no more means BS than does MainStreamMedia..

Plus..  look at all the BS info Murkans have been fed WRT the important facts of the Gulf Spill

COVERUP!

The questions are: Why would either 'side' of this story LIE?

And, Yes, one side IS lying..

Stay Tooned

Obama's supporting no enforcement of American Law WRT The Law,
has him actively opposing all states efforts to enforce the law.

As American leftists do, criminal mexicans have been painted as the poor oppressed by America..

There's been an long ongoing major media blackout of the horrendous mexican gov't activities against their immigrants from south of their borders, etc..

Obama & Co do NOT want news reported which conflict with their Liberal agenda..

Is that proof that Texan ranches were overrun?  No.

But.. Knowing Texans..  That news - if actually true - would big time fuel the existing Texan fires against the Reconquistadores.

Officials know nothing of rumored Zeta standoff on Mines Road

By Nick Georgiou
Laredo Morning Times
Published: Saturday, July 24, 2010 5:38 PM CDT
Local law enforcement was bombarded with calls from across the country Saturday asking about a report that the Zetas had taken over two ranches off Mines Road.

But officials with the Laredo Police Department, Webb County Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol said they knew nothing about such an incident, while Erik Vasys, an FBI spokesman in San Antonio, said the agency does not comment on rumors.

The report, which spread like wildfire among blogs Saturday afternoon, appears to have initially been posted on a blog called Diggers Realm.

The blogger wrote that he got a tip from a San Diego, Calif., minuteman named Jeff Schwilk, who said that the Zetas, former enforcers of the Gulf Cartel, had crossed into the United States and taken over two ranches off Mines Road, about 10 miles northwest of Interstate 35.

Quoting Schwilk, the blogger wrote that there was a standoff between “the unknown size Zeta forces and the U.S. Border Patrol and local law enforcement on two ranches …”

The blogger wrote that the story was confirmed by anonymous sources at LPD.

But Investigator Jose E. Baeza, LPD spokesman, said he had not heard anything about the incident. Also, an LPD sergeant, who was on duty as a watch commander Saturday afternoon, said she had not heard anything about it either.

At about 4:30 p.m., Maru De La Paz, spokeswoman for Webb County Sheriff’s Office, wrote that the report about Zetas taking over ranches in Laredo is not confirmed.

I'm still betting it's true to some extent..

If they made it public everyone in Texas would go down to Laredo with their guns..

Don't know.  The only reason that it could be believable is because it is possible.  (and that says something)  It's obvious that there are nasty things going on right across the border.  Most likely it's not true, but like some of the commenters on the laredo news site said - why hasn't anyone driven out there

Yeah, I saw that but I think they might be talking about the Mexican side.  Even the US consulate has advised people not to go outdoors.  Hell, the government/police there re using a facebook page to advise people what to do.
